Back in the Saddle in a Widebody SC
I recently picked up a 1980 911 SC. I used to have a 1994 C4 widebody and made the mistake of selling it. It is a steel widebody conversion and in excellent condition. Only other mods right now are a factory short shifter and MSD electronic ignition. It currently has a little over 63K miles and rolls on some custom Fuchs (8X16 front and 10.5X16 rear). My GF calls her The Mistress. I guess it will stick until I come up with something better.
I just got her detailed and she looks almost young again. Not bad for a 31-year old. She had a turbo tail on her when I picked her up, but I've since swapped it for a duck tail and am going for an RS/RSR-inspired look. I think it looks much better. The next thing is to add a '74 IROC-style front bumper.
She drives great and I'm thoroughly enjoying the air-cooled Porsche smell, mechanical sounds, and un-sophisticated ride. Getting a workout with the non-power steering, but I'm enjoying the visceral feel and connection to the road. This is what driving is all about. I'm glad to be back in a 911, but I'll have to get used to the antiquated HVAC system. It's terrible. Hans had too much lager the day they designed this system. Enjoy the pics.

I remember the Pelican ad....I want to say the guy talked about the paint not being great ?.....but it looks like your detailing has worked that out superbly. Congrats, its a beauty.

It is a Getty Design product. Fits nicely and didn't require much prefitting. It's a quality product.
So am I. So am I. Thanks for the comments, everyone.

Congratulations. John used to own an '80's Carrera and he is passionate and goes that extra step when he works on these cars. Love the shots. No other color rewards you as much as black does when the paint is corrected and protected. Did he use Nanoskin sealant ? Now comes the hard part...keeping it maintained that way. So I am guessing no auto carwashes for you in the future
