Post Old smelly gas!!! Removal tips.

First of all thank you all for the tips on establishing spark. Now All I can Smell is old Gas.
I pumped all I could out of the tank using the fuel pump, and let it sit empty for a week, I then bought 3 gallons of feul and some injector cleaner and poured it in. Now when I crank I just get an occasional rumble and that terrible smell of Old gas (varnish) not to mention the white smoke.

Thanks in advance.

Brent,

I did'nt catch your first thread, however if you are smelling varnish you probably have rust and a nasty gas tank. You should pull your tank and clean it out or your injectors will pay later. Pulling your tank is actually pretty easy. Once you get the tank out there is a Kit called POR- 15 that you can order for about $60 that you can use to clean, de-rust, and reseal the tank- or you can send the tank to the radiator shop and have it done for about $150.

Email me at Rhorton600@aol.com if you want any pointers about removing the gas tank.

As far as POR- 15 goes: Check out this website: <a href="http://www.hillmanimages.com/912/rust.html" target="_blank">http://www.hillmanimages.com/912/rust.html</a> and scroll down to Gas Tank- there is a description by a guy on how to use POR 15.

Then check out their website at <a href="http://www.por15.com/restorationkits.html" target="_blank">http://www.por15.com/restorationkits.html</a> and scroll down a couple of inches.
