Found the picture. Looks like rear was 245-50-16 and the front was 225-50-16. Its now oem 205-55-16 in front and 225-50-16 for the rear. So that combo shouldn't have rubbed rear lines lowered?

I will see what I can rig up to measure. I saw pelicanparts had a tutorial on measurement I might give that a try. Just want to make sure its right.

You should have an inch of clearance with 225/50/16 in the back.

Yeah a lot more clearance. No rubbing with the 225 in rear. When the 245 was on the rear I couldn't fit a finger between the tire and the line.

The 245/45/16 is the same height as a 225/50/16. But you had 245/50/16, which is much taller.

The 245/45 is what I cited as a popular/proper tire size upgrade onwhat is probably "thousands" of SC/Carreras in the original thread on this issue. Go ahead and use those 225's up and then get a proper set of 245's back there.

Your ride height would/should not have caused a fitment issue with the proper 245.

So it wasn't the width but the height of what the previous owner put on that was the cause of the rubbing? Just want to make sure I'm getting it right.

On a side note: replaced my vacuum lines today and my surging idle went away! Might be crazy but it seems to respond better. Lines to the distributor were cracked to hell.

Thanks guys.

That could be part of it. I run 255's with no rub there, much lower, and a lot of negative camber.
