Are you looking for a mirror finish or do you just want to take the heat marks off? Scotch brite pads work good taking most blemishes off.

Best is probably to use a cotton buffing disk and some rouge. I personally have used a handheld grinder/polisher with a cotton buffing disk and black rouge used for polishing granite countertops which works well on removing scratches and heat discoloration from stainless.
