Just wondering what it should approx cost for an ssi exhaust on my 3.2 ?

New? Somewhere around $1200-1300 for the pair (based upon my experience). Less if you can negotiate with the seller. There are times when there are some available on Pelican & this site.

Don't forget the cost of the 2in muffler as well...new that can be another $700+. There are some floating around Pelican right now used though.

All in probably $2200-2400. I did it so long ago I can't remember. My borla was1k new.

there is an oil line too if i remember correctly . gains are marginal on a Carrera from what i have read .. welcome to rennlist ..post a pic and come on in.

SSI's are borderline not big enough on the 3.2.

I just completed this upgrade on my 81 SC. Total cost was around $2200 (installed). If I recall, included SSI exhaust components, new 2 in 1 out sports muffler, modifcation of oil line, clamps, etc. etc.

I just spent 2k including new silencer, oil lines and drilling out about half the bolts to get the old ones off.

I am very pleased with the upgrade. The exhaust note is a little louder, but not much, which was surprising. However, it sounds very different in tone and pitch. More importantly, when on the track, the throttle response is much faster and the feeling that it begins "choking" as you approach redline is gone. Honestly, I can't say it made a huge impact on horsepower, but I do feel that acceleration out of the corners is much better, due to less restriction in the exhaust (better breathing) and increased torque. Overall, a great incremental improvement for me.

The SSI "kits" that include a sport muffler are nice and serve a great purpose. However, the supplied sport muffler is often low quality, especially compared to the SSI units. The job is not complete untill you get a nice 2in/2out like a MK, or Monty. A bit pricey in the end (oil lines, which may come in the "kit", should be factored in), but is the best money one could spend on a 911. Worth every penny IMHO.

For a 3.0 maybe, but I believe the consensus is SSI diameter is too small for max power on a 3.2, certainly on a 3.4

I'm not certain what the exhaust tube size is on a 3.2 vs. a 3.0. However, I do belive the exhaust and intake valves are the same size on both. I know that this criteria is not the end game in exhaust efficiency, but a smaller tube will increase velocity...to a point.
Also, I think it important to consider that states are cracking down on emmisions. If you do go SSI, hold on to the stock pieces.
