Default Rennline Extinguisher Mount

Hi guys,

I posted this on PP as well, but I figured I'd ask everyone here too.

I ordered an extinguisher mount for power seats for my 1987 911 from rennline (through Pelican). My seats are factory sport seats. I tried installing it today, but the set up for my seats didn't seem to match the instructions I received from Rennline. It seems that the bracket under my seats is different, and there are no mounting holes. I've emailed Rennline to see if they know why it's doesn't seem to match up, but I figure I might not hear from them until next week given the holiday, so I was gonna post it here as well. The picture shows the underside of my seats. Has anyone installed the extinguisher mount before, and if so, did your seats look like mine or were they different? Any suggestions on how to fix it?

Thanks, and Happy New Year!

PS - I also stripped one of the allen bolts holding the seat down. Does anyone know the part #? In my parts catalogue, it says "see group 9/06/00-9/06/54 catalgoue STZ.18", and I'm not sure what that means.

dont know if you mean you stripped the bolt or the threaded nut bar (if its like my 86')

I am thinking that your local dealer would have those in a tub, get ahold of PP parts people or call a dismantler, get a few on min. order ??

dont know about the mount, cool ited, I might consider making something for mine as my next project

And I posted this reply on PP as well...

I had a similar issue installing the Rennline FE mount in my '87 Carrera with non-sport powered seats. It turned out that Rennline had not properly accounted for the design of the '87 power seats, which was somewhat different from other years. You can find the thread I started about it here:

http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsc...7-carrera.html

I returned the mount to Rennline and they machined a new one to match my setup. I assume that Rennline has since modified production to correct for the error, but maybe the one you purchased through PP was manufactured prior to the production change. I'm sure you'll hear from Rennline, I found their customer service to be excellent when I ran into this problem.

Ed, I stripped the head of the bolt (the ones attaching the seat rail to the car). They fit a 6 mm allen wrench, and I got all the other bolts out fine. On the last bolt, it just started tearing up the head of the bolt. It took a bit of PB Blaster and some patience to get it out, but finally it gave way. You're prob. right, a dealer should have them readily available. Thanks!

Logan2z, thanks for your reply as well. It just seems that the location of the mounting holes on the FE mount don't correspond to any holes on my seat bracket. Do you have any pics of your install? Did it wind up attaching to the bolts that secure the actuator?
