wierd priorities - not sure what kids think about these days![Roll Eyes (Sarcastic)](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/rolleyes.gif)

My 11 year old helped me diagnos it, didnt take much but was good for him to see. I showed him the pics in the book and explained what it meant - hiw biggest concern was that he was going to get shocked touching the wire - I think thats a good safe thing to consider

always have respect .. it is a safe way to work .. sounds like you are going to be up and running in no time. I actualy have a pump on my shelf for my SC ... it look slike a bit of a pain inthe *** to change under that shield so I figure I would ahve murphys law work for me for a change .. If I have one ready to go it wont fail ...
so far so good ...
A pair of needle nose vice grips with tubing over the jaws or heavy duty hemostats would serve you well here ...
Good luck and remember .. no smoking

Ice, the best way to do that job is to remove the 4 bolts holding the cover over the steering rack. You then have lots of room. I use rubber gloves with a long sleeve on them and turn the cuffs back about 3-4 inches. Keeps gas out of my face. Make sure the battery is disconnected so there are no sparks.

OK - back from my test drive - I think its up about 10 HP !!
Running GREAT
So as Ron suggested remove the large metal tray and there is LOTS of room, Clamp off the line from the tank and the one going to the back (just to keep spills to a minimum) I removed the fuse (#6) and left the battery connected. Remove the 2 wires, the "out" wierd hose thingy (17 and 19mm wrenches) - hose clamp on inlet and the clamping ring - she slides right out... when going in i connected the wires first, then the funny hose, the inlet and then tightened the clamping ring.
Start and check for leaks, no worries, button her up
NOTES:
Get 2 new washers for the outlet side, do not re-use the old ones
I did this on the floor, jacked the fronts up high enough to get a couple jack stands under it, not high at all
total replacement time was 1 hr and included test drive and clean up.... I was in NO HURRY, just going quite slow
The old pump now works? - yea I know! I tested it after it was out and it ran, not sure if it ran perfect or what but it ran.... SOOOO in a pinch maybe just popping off that cover and knocking the pump with a (hammer, mallet) might get you home, getting the cover off would take a couple tools (17mm wrench and IIRC 6mm allen - but if you were far from home and hit a hard spot... it might be worth buying a couple tools at a local store and giving it a go rather than calling the tow truck for a 50+ mile trip home.
diagnosing is easy, it should make noise when it works. If you jump fuse #6 to the battery and no noise... fuel pump no workie!!
on the flip side i suppose if you jump #6 and it works most likely your DME relay is the culprit.
I replaced both
BTW Bently pics are
big help

Oh yea Ed it totally "felt" more peppy on my little 10 minute run... have other stuff to do so wont drive it till monday... but I thought the same thing "hey, I wonder if better pressure would make it run better? Sure feels like it is"
