Talking pics of my new car

This picture is from the ad that I bought this car off of. You may recognize it form ebay, though I bought it straight from the dealer.
Not bad for a sixteen year old. And trust me, this picture does not do this car justice.

Nice first Porsche, Your getting an early start so I'm sure there will be others in your future.
Where did your interest in Porsche come from at such a young age?
I have often wondered if these cars would hold the interest of future generations? I guess you have answered that question.

The younger generation has plenty of Porsche interest - 23 here.

Great looking 911, good luck with it!

That's a great looking car and nearly identical to my current 911. You are a very lucky guy to have such a great car at age 16. I had a VW bug but did not get my first car until I was 25.

Speaking of the age thing, I am now 30 and have owned 3 Porsches (two 944s, one 911) but the age and maintenance of these cars make it cost prohibitive for the average teenager or early twenty-something. Not to mention the fact that a lack of A/C and a relative lack of heat don't do a lot to impress the pretty little thing in your geometry class.

Once you get settled and have a stable income, it's easier to own an older Porsche as a second car (although I now have a daily driver 944 and a project 911). The best of both worlds.

My interest in these cars came when I was about 13 when I started playing racing games. I liked to race the 911 more than any car. Anyway, I logged onto autotrader and looked up a porsche for under 12000. I found many 944s, 951s, and a few older 911s. I began to research them using the 944 webring and the early 911 s registry as my sources. I then searched the out the common problems and the cost to fix them. I already have a secondary car that I carpool with my brother in so I never planned to drive it daily though it would be a weekend worrior. I saw that the older 911 would be my chose when I saw that I could work on it more by my self than with the 944. I found this in the local deals and wheels and ended up buying it later that day. Besides, I was tired of dealing with the ricers anyway. This website gave me all the info I needed. And I do have the money to fix this car, should it break because I work. This car is nearly fully restored though the engine is not original. Since it is the dead of winter I picked it up for 7800, much less than I expected. Thanks for the information so far, it was very helpful purchasing this true deal. Much better pictures will be posted after I pick it up from the shop to fix a small oil leak.

Real nice car, I couldn't imagine a better first sports car.

I also bought a 911 rather young, I'm 22 and have a 964 Turbo. I also got into cars partly from video games, grand trismo, need for speed and such. I can't imagine getting any other sports car, I wanted something that was fast but also rare. I was in Chicago 2 summers ago on buisness and I saw a C4S drive past me on michigan ave. The sound just amazed me and I was like "Someday I'm going to own one of those" At first I wanted to get a 993 because I loved the look but then I saw that a 964 turbo was about the same price. This was going to be a weekend car so I though the 964 would be more fun ( and it is). The 964 body lines have grown on me a lot and I now like it better then the 993. After I get my turbo paid off I'd like to get a C2 or C4 to use as a daily driver. If I was to do it again I would of probably tried to get a nice low miles 964 C2 for like 25k. I would of only had to take out a few thousand dollar loan and I wouldn't be so nervous about putting miles on it. The turbo is really a bit much for my first porsche, its been modded to about 380hp and it borders on scary when driving it hard. Good luck with yours, it looks great!

Hi,

Nice car & you'll see that they are a lot more fun to own than to look at.
I have a 71T & it's been a joy, a lot of road feel, relatively easy to maintain compared to the newer Porsches, Basic wiring, old points system & more room around the engine compartment with the 2.2 engine & plenty of power, although rust can be a problem.
Good luck

The rust is pretty easy to battle where I live with it raining only once in say a two month period. The car has maybe one square inch of rust, and thats's because I couldn't find any whatsoever. The car is so fun to drive. This is my first real sports car. The only others I have driven were a couple of V6 mustangs which don't really count do they. A couple people are already planning to "smoke" me. They would be in for a suprise if I planned to race it.

DOnt bother with the local stoplight scene - take it to the track and watch the Mustangs get smaller in the mirror.

Nice car. Especially at 16. I wasn't so furtunate since I was already 19 when I got my first Porsche. Way to go. At your age, you are already running out of icons to buy. With a Jeep and a 911, there aren't many icons left. I commend you on your fine taste. You are definetely not an assembly line teenager.

I got my first Porsche at 16. It was a 1954 356. Even with such a primative car, I was hooked. I'm now 46 and have owned a lot of "sports cars". Nothing compares to 911's. old or new, they are the finest car on the road. congradulations on your purchase, wish you years of good times, Be proud, you own one of the best car ever made.

Hello fellow 16 year old 911 owner! I must say, that is a pretty car you have. What model 911 is it? I have a yello/black 911 t. It's a fun little car, and I am very proud to own it. It has given me plenty of DIY opportunities, which I am sure you will also have to look forward to. My advice: use this car to learn, and also save up to hit a couple Driver's Ed events. By the way, where are you located?

Cheers

I'm glad to see other "youger" [age is a relative thing ] porsche enthusiasts are out there.
I'm 21 and have two 911s. The "Red Pill" was my 21st birthday present to myself
Do you guys find yourselves getting a lot of strange looks or gossip? Such as: "must be nice to have a rich daddy". BS. I worked my butt off to own these cars and it really irritates me when people make comments like that.
