driving school
Hello boys and girls! Just got back from the Skip Barber 3-day "race car" driving school at Lime Rock, Connecticut. Had a blast! This is about as much fun as you can have without getting arrested.
Lots of seat time, with 4 or 5-to-1 student to instructor ratio. The "Skippy Cars" are 130 H.P. (Neon engine) rear engine, open-wheel racers. The cars only weigh about 1000 lbs., so they go pretty fast(124 mph top end), and stop great: 0-60-0 in under 10 secs). The race course at Lime Rock Park is in perfect condition and well-maintained. There is much emphasis on safety and the instructors were terrific.
Only regret that I didn't do this 15 years ago when I first got the Carrera. No, I won't give up the day job and go racing (I still like to eat after all); but, I will seriously consider some form of vintage racing in the not-too-distant future. It is great fun!
Richard.
