Cool Scary thoughts... bending a 911?

A few days ago, cleaning the inside of the car, I noticed a big "bump" in the driver´s side rear floorboard (rear passenger floor). I was surprised to see this "bump", although it went down to flat again on very little pressure with my hands...

I am concerned on what is the cause for this. And worried, to think that perhaps this is the cause of some "bounciness" after rear tyre replacement.

The tyre shop raised the car with a hydraulic elevator, putting some wooden blocks under the side sills, front and rear.

Could it be that the car is "bent". What are the right jacking points for a 911? Can the car just "bend" because of that?

Well.. I AM worried...

PS: "Bounciness" on new tyres has been discussed in the forum. After some 200 miles, tyres are better and less bouncy, but still not as stable as before... will replace front tyres as well, to see if the problem is there...

The correct jack points are the two side access points, and the rear portion of the front suspension (I have used this method)...but NOT under the floor pan! This section will not hold the weight of the car (also attempted this) and will start to give way as soon as the weight of the car is applied. This would probably cause the dent you described.

That's it...your car was placed on a lift incorrectly. That happened to my car once, ONLY once! I didn't go back for an encore...

dido - I doubt the car is bent, but it's frustrating - happened to me too, don't need to tell you guys how much I screamed when I saw my 1 week old baby hanging 4 feet up in the air by the floorboards! the one thing I have done at a garage - new tires - and they can't even do that right.

WARNING TO ALL OWNERS : always bug (more than once) the guy working on your car about how to jack, unless he has PORSCHE tatooed on his forehead. - even then...

do it right: ask advice from the people on rennlist and do it yourself.
