Default Sportomatic Starting Problem

I have a 1970 911T Sportomatic. The starter operates intermittently. I have checked the switch on the transmission and it seems to be O.K. The starter solenoid pulls in and the starter works normally when manually jumped with a screwdriver. Is there a relay in the system and if so where is it located. I spoke to Walt Watson at Competition Engineering and he said that there is a Pete Zimmerman who may be able to help me.
