Question Core values

What's a 'core' 3.0L engine going for these days? Does it matter if it runs or not?

I'm replacing one that needs a top end (bad compression in one cyl.) and want to make sure I'm not giving it away.

I think part of the answer depends on whether or not the motor has Nikasil or KS cylinders. I bought a 3.0 motor needed just a "few headstuds" and found that it needed rings. Can re-ring KS cylinders, so I bought new Nikasil. Oh well, at least I know what I have now...

you don't say what the core charge is, but the case can be worth $1000, the crank $1000-$1500, heads $100 each at least. nikasil P+Cs maybe $500, K+S P+Cs $0.
