911S ctr. 912E
Hi all,
Looking at a 912E. I have had 87 and 964 911s before. I am looking for a dunday driver and one to take me to work occasionally.
I have searched on the 912E and it seems like a nice car even though it has a VW engine.
Is parts difficult to get?
I am not looking for a performance car....but would it disappoint me anyway?
Thanks
Christian.

My boss gave one back and didn't even want his money back.

I think the early 912s with the 356-derived motors are very neat, but the 912E leaves me a little cold. Although I can understand its attractions, I would find the low-level of performance hard to live with. The motor (its sound, its power etc) are a BIG part of the 911 experience for me. The VW motor is low on power, and has nothing of the sound. One difference that may be exploited is the reduced weight at the back of the car.
I understand that some parts are difficult to find.
This really is something you would have to drive first.
