WTB 911 Turbo look or Widebody Conversion
I ran a WTB solicitation on Pelican and got to look at alot of cars that I may not have otherwise been able to view. Unfortunately, most of the cars were either wrong color (for me) or overly modded.
So,
LooKing to buy 911 Coupe or Cab wide-body/turbo looK in GOOD condition, mostly stock and very minor MODS OK.....NO projects or garage queens please. Mileage not really an issue as I want a daily/weekend driver. M491 option cars OK, but not that important. If its not a wide-body or turbo-looK, I'm not interested. I may go up a level to 930, but prefer not to unless it's perfect for me.
Exterior color preferences: Black, White, Venetian Blue....but may be open to others if the car is nice.
I have one car that I'm close to buying but I just want to make sure I'm not missing something out there.
Thanks

I can understand the allure of the Turbo body. Plus, if it is a real M491 you also get the turbo brakes etc.
However, M491s are premium priced and what you get for 25K in an M491 will likely be pretty low-average condition-wise. Those same dollars can get you a really top-notch Carrera - Just something to ponder over.
Conversion obviously can be much cheaper, but also much more of a potential minefield. The biggest bugaboos are who did the work and was the coversion done as part of an accident recovery?

Here is a conversion for 15K

Looks like a good deal if it is rust free.

and this one on Ebay..previous life as a Targa....i emailed the guy and he was a little defensive about the mileage issue on the carfax.
Also......this guy claims this is an M491 on Cars.com......but its a bit molested with mirrors, custom brake vents, front valance not stock, he took off AC belt and looks like the Hot air manifold is missing (why?)...any comments on this one guys ? This is near top of my list for color combo
Anyhow.....thanks for the link.

Shannon,
An easy way to visually verify a real M491 is that the rear brake calipers are mounted at the rear of the rotor. Stock Carrera rear calipers are mounted toward the front of the car.
Plus, a M491 has 930 finned calipers, larger rotors and different rear trailing arms than a regular Carrera.
Hope this helps,
