Post windshield washer out

Hello! I have an '82 SC and the windshield washers do not work. Just acquired it recently so not sure how long they have been out. Did the obvious by adding water and visual inspection of the spray nozzles (look ok). It makes a bit of noise when activating it. Any suggestions? Thanks, Kevin

You might try disconnect the water tube at the spray nozzles and see if you're getting water to them. If so, nozzles are clogged. If no water, could be the pump, though your post indicated that you heard the pump.

Also check the valves under each nozzle. They get "stuck" and require replacing sometimes. There is one that is "L" shaped that is on the passenger side, and a "T" shaped one on the driver side. Good luck!

I had the same problem on an ’86. I loosened the washer reservoir (in front of front left tire), unscrewed the cap on the top of it. There is a tube going from the cap to the bottom of the reservoir that has a filter at the bottom of it. This filter was clogged. I easily cleaned it out by hand and the system worked fine after that.
