Hello all,
I just bought an 88 911 Carrera, and it has a set of 7" & 8" black-center Fuchs on it. They are in top original condition, still anodized, not repainted, new tires mounted, etc.
Any idea what these would normally sell for? I know the classic look is unbreakable for some people...but I actually want to update the look a little, and Fuchs have never really been close to my heart. (the VW scene kinda played those out for me several years ago) So I'd rather a nice clean set like this go to a P-car fanatic who loves the look of them...and I'll get what I want as well.![Smilie](https://rennlist.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
I'm currently using the search feature...but in the meantime... if anyone knows the quick "trick" to using some of the more modern Porsche wheels (or aftermarket) on a pre-964 Porsche 911... I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm assuming there will be some spacer action going on to make-up for the offset deficiency, but is there anything else? (or other tricks/hints?)
Thanks,
Scott

I do, I do... I was just getting a feel. In a perfect world, I'd just wrap them up and sit them in a corner of the garage for a rainy day. But you know. :-)
Thanks for the welcome. I look forward to being active on the list.

I used to buy sets of Fuchs in good shape for about $500, but recently I have seen them for $1k and up.
The black spoke/polished rim Fuchs are my second favorite wheel, only surpassed by grey Torque D's. Guess that dates me, eh?

I've changed a lot of things on my 89 Coupe since i bought it but everything is reversible and i kept all the original parts in boxes should i decide to sell it to a purist one day ...
That includes the stock OEM 7 and 8 inch Fuchs that came with my car.
Keep your original wheels, they're getting harder to find !
There are all kinds of nice aftermarket wheels available nowadays.
Cheers !

Sure, you can change wheels. Just stay with the proper offsets so you have the proper "dish". Later model wheels do not look right on t-bar cars. IMO, of course. To each, their own.
Jack speaks wisely. I've had six different sets of wheels on Ruby, but most of them have been Fuchs. You'll come back.
Also, don't overlook performance. The forged Fuchs wheel is top notch, being forged. Cast will be heavier and weaker. That being said, most Fuchs are getting long in the tooth.

True Trader...
These were upgraded at the time, so they are indeed 16's.
I'm debating on storing these, and getting some other wheels/tires for track/fun use. I'd feel miserable if I curbed one of those butter soft rims (and my parking garage is packed with corner berms just dying for an opportunity to ruin a lip)... But at the same time...there is an uber-purist out there who longs for some nice Fuchs. lol
Conundrums...

Keep the Fuchs. At least in the attic until you come around as Jack and Ed point out. If for any other reason, you can take one of those wheels and toss it unsuspectingly to a buddy. They will be pleasantly surprised to catch it and it only weighs a few pounds. I used to do that and it helped me understand the Fuchs, as well as the "catcher".
