Default 84 911 Turbo replacement battery

My generic battery is dead. What can you recommend as replacement, i.e., brand & model number.

If your car is like my 89, it can accept 2 different battery lengths. I had the longer one in my car, and changed to the shorter for a bit of weight savings.

Interstate brand is pretty good and can be commonly found. Odyssey is highly regarded but harder to find locally. You can find them on their website or on Amazon.com. Most folks that go to Odyssey don't buy the standard size, they by a smaller AGM type battery for even more weight savings, but this requires custom brackets for installation.

Offhand I can't remember the brand (starts with a V), but the enormous OEM battery in my M5 last 7.5 years - I was so impressed I replaced it with OEM, which wasn't badly priced with a CCA discount. When the interstate in my 911 expires, I will look around for the same brand that is in the BMW.

I had some Optima's in my race cars, and I did not see much advantage in them over normal batteries. They lasted about as long, and held a charge about as long, especially in a total loss set up.

Optima, if for no other fact than 3/4 (my over-zealous estimate) of the air-cooled pre-89's show some evidence of battery acid damage.
