Default Huh, Wha?

Got my first 911 in January. Red 1984 turbo look. Love the car but hate the around
town mileage. 27 on the freeway and 12.5 in town. I actually drive rather conservatively and Steve wong (yes I got his awesome chip) I should be getting 17
to 19 around town and that I had a vacuum leak or bad 0x sensor. My mechanic
did a smoke test and said no leak and the ox sensor was good.
I am taking the car to a different shop this tuesday but, all he said was bad ox sensor.
Is their anything else?
The car has gotten this mileage since I bought it stock and
still does.
thanks Scott

A bad O2 sensor could cause some poor mileage. But 12ish is pretty low, especially compared the 27 hwy. Sheesh, with cams I get 12 at the track.

How long has it been since the motor has had a major tune up (cap, rotors, va, filters) and fuel system cleaner?

My guess would be that the injectors are acting more like fire hoses than misters.

.....and if you clean the injectors with choke cleaner for heavens sake take off the O-rings BEFORE you spray them.

Lucky!! Las time I checked I was getting 8.xx

and an on topic note... I don't remember how the stock motronic tps works, but if it never clicks the "closed position" could he be dumping a lot of fuel off throttle? Coasting, slowing down, rich idle, etc etc?

I would second checking all the tune up stuff. I can't believe it doesn't run bad with that kind of mileage.
