Burning Brakes
For anyone wanting to buy a modified car like that, I'd ask for some project photos of the car before, during and after the work was done to document (as best you can) the condition of the car prior to it being finished.
I'd sort of lump cars like that into the replicas or kit car category, like the Speedsters ,etc. They can be good cars but are not factory and will never be as desireable as the real ones. How much would an authentic Turbo look in similar condition be worth? $30k-35? A replica is probably worth about 50% -60 of that, I'd say. Maybe around $18k or so?

Modified or not... If you see something you like take it to a good shop and have a PPI done on it..
If it checks out good. You pay what you think it is worth.. A car is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it.. STOCK OR MODIFIED.

Shannon123, you have a PM
You said "I have no need for a turbo, would never use it and certainly don't want to maintain it (at least as a driver)."
Seriously now...nobody needs a turbo, or any 20+ year old 911 variant ,forced induction or not, for that matter. Are you sure you wouldn't use it? 911 or 930, these cars are built to be driven hard. Will you never use it in anger? Really? If you're just going to cruise and keep it mellow ALL THE TIME and never get on boost then I can't see how a turbo will be more costly to operate than a naturally aspirated 911. Pull the snail, intercooler and induction/fuel system off of the 930 and you're dealing with the same longblock as the 911. At that point, repair and rebuild procedures and costs are pretty much identical. Either way, it ain't cheap.
Have you driven a 930? Have you driven a naturally aspirated car? I have to agree with Ed Hughes...if its a widebody car you fancy, go for the 930 or a tasty RSR tribute

Are you sure it's going to be there on Monday?
I watched a local first generation 1988 E28 M5 on autotrader for months. I'd check back in every once in a while, and it was always still there. The very night I was going to pitch it to my wife, it disappeared. You should have heard me talking to my computer. "What. Where is it. What the F happened." Redo search, broaden criteria, still not there. "WTF. WTF! No, this can't be. Gdammit." LOL

Race Car
It looks like it had a roll cage installed. Did anyone else see the "filler" plate on the inside rear fender - beside the back seat rest? Maybe not a bad thing, but may elude to ownership history and usage.

Here is email from him on a couple Q's i had asked
1. We purchased this car in Carmel California on our anniversary in 2001. The history we got was that the owner wanted to race the car in the non turbo class at Laguna Seca and had the engine and car built for that class. It even had a roll bar that we removed. As far as we know it was never actually raced or damaged. I have never done a car fax yet but the car is perfect everywhere for its age.
2. The engine does not leak any oil, good compression and runs very good. The car has only 70+k miles.
3. As far as I know the car was lowered and has large racing brakes, see list of improvements.
Man, its amazing how good you guys are....again, as always, thanks for the objective feedback.
