Default Brakes

so I had my shop order some new pads and picked them up tonight on the way home, popped off the fronts and pulled the pads... ready for the new ones.....

AND

they dont have the indent for the wire????

SO I could read, but its fun to hear thoughts and open up an old can of worms...Obviously I need the "other pads" but do some people just delete the wire and run the pads without?

thats all.... I am stuck w/o brakes or run without a wire... Thanks for your thoughts...

Other than that it looks to be about a 10 min/side job just to swap pads... pretty darn easy !

OK I read the details on PP and see there is a later "glue in" sensor and then notch style and it clearly ststes to check which ones you have PRIOR to ordering

I picked up the Textar pads and on PP the Mintex are the only ones I see with the notch, and they are 1/2 the price... is that because they are 1/2 as good??? i really wanted the Textar's but cant find... good lord I hate it when simple things go like this !!

Mintex are fine.

You can run without the sensors, but the warning light will stay on.

I just plug the sensor in, zip tie it to the brake line, and run without. You can check pad wear visually. You might need a flashlight and you might have to roll the car forward or back, but you don't always need the wear sensor.

I am in there so often that I am sure I would never run low on pads,.... I dont really want to make them inoperatable for the next person...Maybe I will tie them off.

the other option is to switch to the glue in sensor but that sounds like a mess and IMO would make swapping pads take longer ??

anyhow, back together for now, the pads have 30% left so its not an emergency - I did have to shake my head when I saw the price of the lower end pads were like $20 and thought maybe I would just be "NUTS" and run without brakes yea, brakes are for loosers....If I had a louder exhaust you wouldnt even hear them dragging on the rotors - nuts man
