Ahhhh I was hoping to see a VS model with a clear bra. Oh well this is almost as good.

Ok, we are onto page two and everyone has been too polite to ask so I'll be the boob (pun intended ).

How much did that set you back you eccentric car lover? (hoping that was nice enough)

.....We had a 3m clear bra installed on our departed 350Z, my wife has a 40 min commute and this is the only car in our history that didn't get chewed up in the 3 years we had it. I'd call the install a 7 on a 10 scale as it had a few flaws and was a tad orange peeled. It did however not yellow in the slightest and responded well to my overly **** cleaning/waxing regimen.

Prices for a good installer seem to have risen SHARPLY since we had that done in '06. I wanted to have her new Boxster done but it's leased and I'm having trouble pulling the trigger on $600-700 for the job.

But look how perky she still is after 4 children!

Even perfect headlights can benefit from wonderbras

Hmmn..I'm not sure I like the direction this thread is headed towards. But with that thread title I was asking for trouble. YumYum loved your post...and Ice and sobamaflyer's follow-up posts.

A hanes bra is $ 700 these days (ie. pre-cut installs, half hood etc) and we are talking Victoria Secret The Black Diamond Fantasy Miracle Bra here for my 911 (custom seamless install wrapping the entire hood, front fenders etc)

http://www.luxist.com/2008/10/20/200...t-fantasy-bra/...

You got to at the very least double that price. If my previous threads were not enough to confirm my disease this post is certainly a sine qua non for the diagnosis of my illness: A clear cut case of 911 insanity.

Amar, that is a whole lot cheaper than paint. How do you calculate that to equal 3, 2 or even 1 paint job? I spent over $5K 8 years ago on paint. I did one hood repaint with a blend onto the fenders that was close to $1K. I'm due for another. If this cost $1400, that is a bargain.

That's where I was stuck too "the 1, 2, 3 times paint" thinking surely you didn't pay $5k for a bra install.

You get what you pay for, I'm not up for it but I can certainly understand it being worth it.

Ed for the whole front fenders, entire hood, side view mirrors, back wheel fenders along with free lifetime wax (which is great for me since I already spend a lot of time with car detailing) every 3 months it was $1700.00. They do not have a pre-cut pattern for 3.2's. The earliest 911 that have a pre-cut pattern available is the 964s.

You won't get much paint for $1700. To touch up those surfaces once would likely cost more.

That was exactly my rationale even though I had the film wrapped over some rock chips.....and Ed, you don't even want to know what I did with my 997.2

Thank you Ed. You have so made my day with that last comment. Everything I did for my 911's now feels so worth it. I can go to bed without any feeling of guilt or overspending.

Very nice, kinda looks like new paint lol so glossy... My dad did this to his 08 Corvette, of course his was a pre-cut kit, and honestly I think its a perfect choice for someone who wishes to treat their vehicle with care... You spend thousands on buying a nice car you appreciate whats another 1,000+ to keep it looking new.

lol I painted a car for 500 bucks =p spent roughly 350 on the paint and sealer and the rest went to tape, sandpaper, plastic (to cover wheels engine etc..) and a slurpee or 10 =p

I got my paint from paintforcars.com and I must say even though it's cheaper feels very close to House of Kolor... =p

And yes the paint was 2-stage urethane (base and clear)

I have had no problems and the other guys I know at the track with clear-bras have not had any trouble either. WD-40 is the best thing we have found to remove tar and tire rubber. It comes off very easily.
