I like it. Were you able to swap out the alternator yourself?

I bought a Jeep years ago in PA and broke down in VA on my way back to GA. I know the feeling!

Congrats. Great looking car in an absolutely beautiful colour.
Welcome to a fun and informative forum.

Congratulations on your new porsche - now you own the real deal.

BTW, is that the last surviving road worthy Fiat 124 in the world? I had one in the '70s, but I bet it's been at least a decade since I last saw one on the road.

Thanks again for all the compliments guys! KILRWAIL, your Fiat looks great, it's nice to know there's someone else out there with one that is actually reliable!! They are really fun little cars. UberXY, you aren't kidding about how scarce these cars have become. Its a shame, because they really are fun cars. That Spider has been in my family for as long as I can remember, and my dad let it sit for years, and I convinced him that if he gave it to me I'd get it running and maintain it. It took some money because it sat maybe 4-5 years, but ever since it's been perfect.

But back to the 911, I do have a question for you guys, I've had the DME relay replaced, engine speed sensor, alternator, in the past month. Now are these cars just really fussy with heat and humidity?? Mine seems to not run nearly as nicely when it's 90+ degrees and humid. Even with a lot of research done, I still have loads to learn about these cars. Thanks!

Those conditions should not make it run poorly.

There are two speed sensors, and they need to be clearanced from the flywheel correctly. Beyond that, there are a few variables or components such as injector condition, vacuum leaks, fuel filter, dist cap, rotor, wires, plugs etc that need to be up to snuff and could effect running.

Ok, thanks for the info. My next item on the To Do list is plugs and wires. It seems the last owner has left everything for me to take care of. But it'll get there. I've had to get it towed twice, one being a drive shaft issue which wasn't a big deal, then just shut off on me while driving, that's when I got the DME relay and engine speed sensor work done. I can't thank you guys enough for the info!

Only an IDIOT would make that statement. In fact it's MORONIC! Oh wait - you have a sense of humour so it's OK- which other people clearly can't have...

He's hurt because I called him out on a post he made on the "complete brake failure" thread.

Grant 911, very beautiful color. It's ruby red right ? Enjoy her safely. I have gone through several years of schooling (...very many years). I really don't get what is that MORONIC or IDIOTIC about Ed's post or sense of humor. Hmmn maybe I need a few more years of schooling.

Great advice!

I have never used the "ignore" button... but it could come in handy if we keep getting this kind of advice
