It sure does. It's got a high speed wobble on it right now. I just made an appointment at Tire Source to have them drop it a little, align it, balance the wheels and make sure it's all ready for a DE I am going to in 2 weeks.

It was raining last night when I got home, so no pictures. I snapped a few this morning with my phone. Nowhere near as nice as the pro ones posted above.

Aren't they? I spend so much time on a daily basis talking guys out of G50 conversions. A couple of alternative ratio gears and a proper rebuild and you really couldn't ask much more from the gearbox. Once you master the feel of the Porsche proprietary synchros and know what you are doing with respect to revs and how to slot it into gear there's really nothing to complain about.

But then I do have to confess that I first learned to drive on a 1977 VW bus and have had 914's for years now. If my only experience of a gearbox was a modern box from something like an Acura or a Lexus and then started driving a vintage 911 I might feel differently about it.

I always make it a point to people logging on here to say they are looking for 87-89s, that they are nuts to disregard the 915 years. Right Amar?

Nice car, I'll have to try and make that coffee and cars meet one of these days and introduce myself.............I live 3 minutes from there....
I've used Tiresource as well just for tires but I hear a lot of high end cars go in and get suspensioned tweaked with excellent results. It's funny but the owner always takes care of us when we go in just in case you have nice wheels, the coolest guy otherwise.
915's are great, I don't see what all the fuss is about with them as well?
Very cool car, enjoy!

Thanks Vino,

I don't know if you're a PCA guy but we'll be out at the Club races this weekend at High Plains. Just gonna be there on Sunday, but look for the car. If you see it, feel free to call our company phone (303-530-1094) and we can hook up. I forward it to my cell on the weekends...

As a side note can anyone identify the color of my car? It's listed as a special order of a previously used factory color. Some have said it looks like Sunflower Yellow as used on the Bumble Bees. Any thoughts?

Just for anyone interested that may come across this in the future, the color is Limonen Gelb aka Summer Yellow Paint Code B1, and/or 10W...

Matt yellow with script looks really nice!

I'll look for you driving around Boulder or at one of the coffee-n-cars.

Hello Rob,
That 912 is your avatar looks like a great color.

I'm gonna be at the NASA event on Saturday running the HPDE with the car if any other Colorado locals are gonna be there.

3.2s are great cars... fast, and cheap to own. 915 is a great trans when you learn to shift it... congrats...

My wife is probably going to kill me, but I am pondering building a dog-box for it...

The key to my 915 is to work the stick into to second then up into first to select first. This works 99.9% of the time with mine. And the move from 4th to 5th you will learn to love.

Really? You need to shift to first to select first in yours?

Looks great !

I have no complaints with the 915 in my Targa, shifts like a knife cutting through butter.

My brother has the same steering wheel in his 84 Carrera.

Yep. No issue on mine either.

My 2nd gear really prefers that I make the 1-2 shift somewhere over 3500rpms if I want to shift with any quickness, but other than that, there's not a single issue with it.

I know what he's saying, if you go from neutral, and make a quick stab to 2nd, it seems to set the synchros to go into 1st... I can't explain how it works, but I do it all the time... it's just a habit at this point
