Cost of Valve Guide Replacement?
#2
Burning Brakes
It really depends on how you want to go about it.
How many miles are on your car?
Are you wanting to do a top end rebuild or just valve guide replacement?
If you are going to let someone else do all the work it can get up into the $1500 range just for labor.
I suggest you think about removing the motor and disassembling the top end yourself. If you are just concerned about guides then you can send the heads out to a good machine shop...(Ollies, Andial, EBS, German Precision etc.)
Head work can cost anywhere between $300-$600 depending on the shop you choose.
With plenty of patience, reading and persistance you can surely reduce, if not totally eliminate labor costs by doing all or most of the R&R yourself.
Just food for thought.

most shops charge 30 hours labor for the whole job. it's basically a valve grind. with all new valves, guides, tuneup parts, oil and filters, the total can approach $3000.
