"Have you seen any other reasons why the DME would unexpectedly re-boot?"
1. Intermittent DME ECM, borrow another and eliminate that possibility,
2. Drive with the reference sensor disconnected. If it dies, a possible
bad speed sensor.
3. Possible bad coil, hopefully not a silver one.
