We're not ALL air-cooled or nothing (even though I have two AC)I EVEN have a few friends with 996's .....LOL. I happen to prefer the more visceral experience the older cars offer but have driven many enthusiastic miles in 996's. I think they're currently a great buy and probably a great and comparitively inexpensive way to get into 911 ownership. I'll probably get flamed here, but I think when the normal, run of the mill 997 starts increasing in value, the 996 will likely follow. Perhaps they've already turned the corner. Cheers

Yes, but it doesn't mean everybody necessarily pooh-poohs all watercooleds of all description. I'm certain that even when I finally manage to buy my 911SC I will still love my 996TT almost as much

I don't think EVERYBODY slams ALL watercooleds. It's no secret that the 996's aren't loved by a lot of people.

I Love my cars (an 85 and a 96)...probably way too much, and in person I pull friends chains about AC vs WC all the time. Seems though, this "hazing" is far beyond that. My 85 is a Targa and I've certainly received ribbing about the look vs the coupe and the supposedly "flexie flyer" driving characteristics. In my mind beating up some passer-by, seems awfully unfriendly.....even if you can't embrace his life (car) choices. Just one guys opinion.
