Gotta tell someone...
Aside from my busy schedule as of late I did manage to find time to change my shift coupler bushings, ball cup bushing and shift rod bushing and I am happy to report that it was a complete success. My neighbor had a press in his garage and pressed the coupler pin for me. The shifting improvement is remarkable. I can now shift easily into first and third which has been a problem. Second gear is kinda finicky still but I am not complaining. My Bentley manuel gives easy instructions for adjusting the coupler and I got it on the first try. I will ride these bushings out and concentrate on other things like my fuel pump.
I had also changed my door speakers and goofed up the wiring for my windows. My Bentley manuel came to my rescue once again but not before a fuse change. Open the book first...hello

Yes...My bushings were backordered any finally arrived today. I called my neighbor at work to tell him. He had a good laugh at my expense, it was pretty funny actually.

+1 on the bushings results.
I spent part of my day off (july 5) installing a short shifter kit and new front coupler bushings in my 1980 911 sc. Not it's way much more a pleasure to drive. My 2nd gear was always the pesty point, and now is not near as bad. Plus the shifter does not wobble around like it used to. The shifter and bushing kit that I used were inexpensive "knocks offs" ones from fleabay.. YMMV

Did the replacement a few weeks back...greatly improved shifting into 1st and 3rd...wish I'd done it sooner...
