Post 1989 Carrera

I am a new member and like many of you have been bitten by the Porsche bug. I am currently in the market for my first Porsche and with the help of information from this site have narrowed it down to a 1988-89 Carrera or 1992 C2. I am aware of the pro's and con's of both models and have actually found a 1989 Carrera that is in excellent shape with low miles but it does not have a rear spoiler (a must for me). How hard is it & how much is does it cost to add a spoiler that looks like it came from the factory and does not appear "bolted on"?

Spoilers are readily available in both factory and aftermarket new and used. I recommend getting one with a decklid. I know of one for sale by a member of PCA UCR but there should be a few available closer to you. Here is the link for example: http://www.pcaucr.org/pcaucr/discussion.nsf/Parts/ed54332994575f6c85256b3d001aa793
I recommend matching the rear spoiler with the front end counterpart for stability and looks.
Regards

If you've found a nice 89 snap it up!
Probably drive it and wax it a few times before you arrange for the spoiler.
It seems there are plenty available because many choose to go w/o spoiler after a short while.
Take your time and revel in the fact you've found a good 89, a GREAT choice.

If you want to stay original, Porsche sells the Carrera tail in a complete kit to attach to your existing lid. List is a little over $1K, and you can buy it for around $750. It would require painting. I can look up the part number tonight if you want it. Another option is a fiberglass tail shaped like the Carrera tail. Less expensive, around $450 or a little less, and requires final finishing and painting. As CN pointed out, you need to add the front valance extension (available from Porsche and other vendors), so you are aerodynamically balanced at speed.

A 1989 original tail will cost you about $1,000 used...if you can find one. Add the front spoiler at the same time, a rubber bolt on for about $300. There are lots of aftermarket possibilities as well.
