Has anyone purchased an extended warranty through an independent company? I contacted AutoExtendWarranty.com and they gave me a quote of $1,399 for 7 years/100,000 miles. The maximum repairs is the wholesale value of my car w/ 100 deductable. She ran off the list and it seems they cover the entire car. Sounds too good to me.
Let me know what other companies are out there. Thanks.

I have a two year/24,0000 comprehensive warranty on the engine/transmission, i.e. complete drivetrain on a 1991 C2. It was issued by GE Assurance via a Porsche Dealer after a complete inspection. The cost was $1,500 or so to the private seller and I can pass it along on a sale to a third party.

Extended warranties can give you peace of mind for the bit of extra money.
Two things to note, however....
The warranty is really just another form of an insurance policy. It's a worthless scrap of paper if the underwriter goes ****-up before you make a claim. (Don't ask me how I know this.) Don't buy a policy from just anybody a dealer may suggest. Do your homework.
And...
Some warranty writers will not do an all-inclusive policy on older cars (if at all). Make sure you know what you are getting for your money...by reading the fine print.
