Thats a loaded incentive, he probably wants to drive yours. Unless it has carbs, it's not a lot diferent than a SC.

We used to have a coupe of old Ford trucks on the farm, and one of them did that. It turned out to be a bad coil. The other one did that also, and it turned out to be a rusted out muffler. The muffler partially caved in, and a "flap" would shut off the exhaust flow.

Ice, you may want to check the muffler LOL. Coil sounds plausible though.

That's what I thought too, especially given the fact that it will start up again after it cools down.

I sold a car to a lady who just kept driving it. Never tuned it up, no plugs, wires, filters. It died on a big bridge over the Hudson River during rush hour.

If he has had the car a year, and never has done a lick of service, start there. Do the simple obvious stuff first. You may never figure out what the problem was, but you may find it is gone.

The guy who sold it to him is the guy who installed the 3.2 so i don't think it lacked in maintanance , it's just broke .. that being said however I am a firm believer in start with the obvious..

When you look at it, start at the battery terminals and make sure it's all good. If you see a bunch of crimp locks/butt conectors in the trunk/dash/engine bay...you may be dealing with a multiheaded dragon. Good luck.

Here are test values for the coil (taken from the Bentley Publishing Forum):

Primary resistance: between terminals 1 and 15 = 0.4 to 0.6 ohms
Secondary resistance: between terimnals 1 and 4 5.0 to 7.2 k-ohms
(Table b missing from the manual)
