When I bought my 911SC the latch spring for the gas door was broken. The PO wrapped an elastic around the latch and it works most of the time.
I bought a used latch with spring (I couldn't find anyplace to sell just the spring).
Today I tried to remove the old latch. Seems that you have to jamb your hand up inside the fender and then fit an allen wrench in and turn it minimal amounts.
I never did get my allen wrench in the bold. I just have a normal allen wrench. I'm thinking that to make it work I would have to shorten the short side of the wrench or take the fender off.
Is there a trick that I am missing?

Cutting off Allen wrenches is nothing new. Just cut it to fit the job you are planning to do. I call all my tools that have been modified for a specific job, "Special Tools".

I was also thinking I could take the fender off. How big of a job is that?
Don't really want to but if I have to I guess I will.
Tomorrow night I will shorten my allen wrench and give it another try.

Okay tonight I cut the allen wrench down to a size that can fit.
I tried for an hour to get it into the bolt and loosen it. No go.
Got a new elastic. works great. I think a small spring in plain sight might be the way to go.
