Default I chipped it

well I wasnt planning to, but came across a good deal on a chip, so I jumped on it....

install is very easy, I took my time and "looked around" while doing it, might have spend an hour -

only ran around the block so impressions are limited do far but I can tell the idle is smoother coming off the gas and WOT "feels" a little more crisp - looking forward to some seat time!

my 28mm rear Tbars showed up yesterday so the suspension pile has begun, once I have all the parts I will drop them in.... might take 6-12 months to get them all together on my budget

Performance Authority - it was a bit of a crap shoot, but for what I paid I was willing to give it a go....

If you got a deal, then nothing lost. But, not all chips are created equal. Some companies spend more time and effort, and offer more than a one size fits all.

I'd also make sure that the fuel map isn't letting it run too lean, which brings me back to my original statement.....

Now, THERE is a big heap of true wisdom.

I've seen too many engines damaged by too much ignition timing in the software in the quest for more power so one should be quite careful about such things.

"Cheapest" is rarely the best and oftentimes proves to be much more expensive.

thanks - I will keep it in mind, the owner of the chip is someone I know who ran it in his 86' (stock) for a couple years w/o any issues.... but good to keep in mind!

I have run an Autothority chip in mine for 15 years! no issues, higher rev limit, little better mid range.
Nothing special.

Indeed. I spent 45 minutes on the phone with him reviewing my new chip parameters and my motor specifics, as well as my needs. Then, after Steve took week or two on the programming, he slept on it to ponder the setup before shipping. He's also going to retune once I get it on the dyno. The guy is an owner and an enthusiast, which shows in his product and service. From mild to wild, Steve is THE man.

Gotta say, if I ever chip my car, Steve's the guy.

He's already answered a couple of my questions...even got back to me on a Sunday! That tells me a lot.

That is ABSOLUTELY how Steve works. He's one of the sharpest guys in the business and has a huge interest in these Motronic cars - he owns a beautiful '84 himself (along with his 997 GT3).
