Default 80's seats in a mid-70's 911 fitment?

I have seats from an '86 944 turbo that I had in my 1980 911. A guy (not local) is interested in buying them for his 1976 911 and is worring about fitment. We are exchanging measurements that are close but not a perfect match so I think its a matter of error in measuring.

Will the 1980's seats fit in the '74 and up 911?

Yes, all the 911 seats are the same location from 74 through 84, in 85 the seats changed and electrics were added but still fit the locators of the 74 but tend to sit slightly higher in the car. It feels higher as the back of the seat is closer to the roof. The 85 and later used a different seat mount in the chassis and the seat belts were moved to the seat itself.
