Thank you Dave, Doyle and all others...It's decision time tomorrow. Should hear from the mechanic after the PPI by this time tomorrow. He expects to spend a good 5 hours for the job.

Sounds like you're going about it the right way.
Tonight, toast your good judgment in selecting such an outstanding color...and gearbox...and year!

Ed (Hughes), so you are quite confident that it will check out okay ? I already feel good..It's like the nervous expecting dad being reassured by the obstetrician in the labor and delivery room. We should have the APGAR score for my hopefully soon to be baby later today. For those who do not know what the APGAR score is....we have google search.

Curt at Marquemotors in Oregon. I've heard some really great comments about him. The seller was not comfortable with a 4 hour commute to Chris's German auto in Bellevue, WA.

Okay folks: Car checked out really well.

Compression: 1) 180 2) 190 3) 180 4) 180 5) 190 6) 185
Leak down: 1) 4% 2) 4% 3) 4% 4) 2% 5) 3% 6) 3%

Very minimal weeping (again very minimal) from the oil line, chain housings back on the rear part of the engine, transmission shift cover and on the engine case where the center seams come together. These parts just a little moist to touch, no oil dripping for sure.

$1000 dollar estimate given to fix a noisy heater fan motor in the engine (although heating is okay) and to replace brake hoses on front and back (although brakes are fine..just an age related preventative maintenance). A/C not working well..? ..he says I may be looking at 1.5K to fix it...not worth it in his opinion.

Mechanic says this car is otherwise so pristine that it will be gone in short time if I pass on it.

???Thoughts/comments please.
