My name is Chuck I live near Charlotte N.C.I Just joined recently and have been reading up on 911's. I have never owned one and I have just started my search for one. I hope to spend less than 12 grand , don't really know how much car I can get for this amount. I own a couple of BMW 'S 91 M5 88 M6. I want to purchase from 1976 to 1988. I will purchase the 911 book for sure. Any guidance ya'll can give I sure would appreaciate. I looked at a 1983 911sc the other night for $9850.00 second owner but when I arrived he said he had just promised it to someone from Pennsylvania. over the phone who promised to be there on Sat. with cash. I wanted to buy but couldn't. Guide me in the right direction. Thanks,, Chuck

Chuck, you need to get a copy Of Pete Zimmerman's ''The Used 911 Story''.

And when you get your car, you need to respond to at least 50 threads where someone asks about how to buy a 911.

Oh yeah. Read the second thread from the top. The Pre Purchase Inspection. It will help you a lot.

Now is a very good time to buy. There is a very nice brown 911 SC for sale over on the Pelican Parts Porsche Cars For Sale Forum for 10 grand. Good car, nice interior.

Lots of cars out there. Be picky, and consider that getting a good car is paramount. Get the book.

.. and I wouldn't touch ANYTHING lower than a 78 .. true there are some fixed ones out there .. but keep it simple .. for your budget you should get a decent SC.

You can find one for 12, but you'll be spending some money on her to bring her up to snuff. Good luck in the search, and welcome!
