Post Power loss and governor question.

I experienced the following yesterday on my 84 which has 78,000 miles. With the engine at operating temp and after leisurely driving I accelerated strongly from stand still up through 3rd gear. After slowing and upon normal acceleration again there was a noticable power loss. This loss remained for the few miles. I shut it down at the end of those miles. Upon driving today the problem was gone and the car accelerated as strongly as ever for the entire trip. What could ahve caused this loss? Could I have overheated the clutch? The clutch is original.

Secondly, I was told by the dealership that a governor of some type is on the engine. Where would this be and what does it look like? Can it be easily removed?

Lastly did 84 Targas come with the whaletail?

Thanks,

reg
