Default My Brown 911 sc targa

Hello 911 guys, I'm usually on the 993 forum but I have a question regarding my 1980 Porsche 911 sc targa. It has 70k original miles. It is completely stock except for Bilstein shocks and a Alpine CD player. Fuch wheels, everything works perfect, targa top is in great shape. One crack on the dashboard. The original color is Mocha Black (which is brown). It just received a full repaint in the original color (Mocha Black). My question is if i decide to sell it (which I don't really know if I can part with it), will the Brown color hurt me. Its a very odd color. You either love it or hate it. My father gave me the car as a wedding gift (main reason why I'm not sure if I should sell it). When he first bought it for himself I couldn't stand the brown, but after years of looking at it I got used to it and love it. Plus its so reliable, my 993 has more problems in 3 months than the 911 ever gave us. What's the consensus on this board, would you be turned off by the brown????Sorry for the long post. I appreciate all advice and criticism, thanks again guys.

Sure it's not purple? Seriously, a lot of buyers are more concerned with getting a good car. Color can have little importance. Btw, looks great.

That Ain't a brown SC targa ....

THIS is a brown SC Targa ,,,,,

if you want to sell it sell it .. I don't think the colour has anything to do with it .. if someone likes the colour they will buy it , if they don't they won't . I don't see how the colour relates to if you should sell it or not ...

how can a colour of a car hurt you ?

I was just wondering if price wise the brown would hurt me, but you are right, if someone calls on the car then obviously the brown doesn't bother them. Plus after driving the car, and looking at these pic's I don't think she's goin' anywhere soon!!!

Looks like a nice car, just need to find the right buyer if you want to part with it.

Iceman I like the tail, always considered doing it. I kind of feel like the back of the targa needs that, while I prefer no tail on the coupe. Even though it's not a turbo, it so just happened to get the nickname turbo turd from some non-porsche fans I work with, lol. I usually just get them back by asking, Why? What color is your porsche, seeing most of them have gmc pick-ups.

Chris I think the Duck looks realy nice too so something you might consider ( Ed's car ) .This year I added the front trim to balance it out and the Fuchs to get back to the original look

I think your getting it .. I have a brown car and now and again I get guys walking up to me handing me there numbers and saying if I ever want to sell it I should call them .. you don't think they are going to get it for less than market do you ? It's a nice car .. and as Marc says, it's a nice car , if they want it they will buy it ..
nice choice to have though .. a 911 or a 993 .. what do I feel like today

As a person in the market the color is several notches down on the list of importance and certainly doesn't affect the price. The only color I summarily ignore bar none is Guard's Red, so maybe there's more oddballs like me . There are certainly colors I prefer but I'm more interested in the car, it's condition, it's options.

That said, unless you are in dire straits I'd say this is a horrible time to try and sell a sentimental (and beautiful) part of the family. (Lucky Me, not so much the sellers ) Just my $0.02

I second that color is not the main consideration--good condition and as original as possible is paramount.

That being said--I love the brown!

A respray to a different color will definitely lower the value of the car, so it is what it is.

I'm not usually a big fan of brown, but I think your car looks great in Mocha. If I was in the market for another 911 and your car ticked all of the important boxes for me, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it due to its color. That said, keep it, it looks like you and your SO enjoy it!

lower it and put a duck on it and lower it like Ed hughes did (one of the most beautiful cars ever)

I think that colour is divine!
And personally I like the smooth lines of a sans-whaletail targa. That rear view shot is just stunning.
