I have an '89 Targa that has the Amber/Red taillight lenses. I like the look but am wondering if this was the factory configuration in '89.
Most G50 cars I see have the Amber/Red lenses.

Were these factory pieces or perhaps added later by a PO?

I think Amber in the US was added after .. not 100% but i think US cars had all red at the back ..

My '89 S.A. edition has amber /red/ (as bought ~4 years ago). Good question, yet mine look original,..should there be a manufacturing date stamp somewhere? Not sure....

They were all red. Amber lenses are called "Euro lenses" by us 'Mericans.

Thanks, guys. That is what I thought (about them being red). The PO was attempting a Euro look with the lenses and foglamp. I have removed the foglamp but like the looks of the amber turn signals.

I'll keep it as-is for now unless I get the tweaker syndrome to return to original.

Yep, US cars were all red in the back. From what I've read, amber lenses were in fact illegal in the rear.
