1977 911S Main Fuel Line Repair/Replacement
My main fuel line from the front pump to the rear pressure accumulator has popped a leak in-line. It's not dripping fuel on the engine or exhaust, so it hasn't caused any fires yet. But the car reeks of gas and my fuel economy is suffering so I want to get this fixed sooner rather than later.
Is there any way to repair this like a garden hose with a patch glue or clamp, or does it definitely need to be replaced?
If I have to replace it, is this something I can do myself without a lift? I looks like this thing snakes a pretty long way from the front to the back...
If I have a shop do it, any guesses as to what it will cost?
Thanks,
Christian

have no idea but we had a guy on here .. from Toronto actually who had a car a bit earlier than yours and the same thing happened.. completely engulfed hs car in a matter of seconds .. i would not even start that car again until it is fully repaired..

Replace the entire line. If you don't and it catches fire, what price do you put on the car. Also change all fuel lines on the engine. Fires start where you least expect them and due to the age of the car, they are probably the original ones. One crack can cause a lot of grief.

I'm with the others, replace the line before driving
Also, think about all the damage to your lungs and brain tissue from inhaling the gas vapors.
Is your leak near the pump?

Not an easy job but better then the alternative and you will not have to worry about them for another 25 years
Good luck
