Default SOLD: 1986 PORSCHE M491 "turbo look" Coupe!!!!

SOLD: 1986 Porsche M491 “turbo look” Coupe.

Guards Red / Tan Leather
56,224 miles

Super Rare - Only five M491 Coupes were manufactured by Porsche for the 1986 Model Year!!!

The 1986 Model Year was the first year with the new updated dash with larger vents and superior HVAC system (Heating, Ventilation & AC system); and the last year of the 915 transmission. Hence, this is my favorite Model Year!!!
will assist with international export!!!!

Started & Driven every 2-6 weeks to keep all the seals "wet."

ALL SALES FINAL
SOLD “AS IS,” “WHERE IS.”
THERE IS NEITHER WARRANTY NOR GUARANTEE STATED OR IMPLIED.

Questions? Call 858/454-9898 (9am-9pm PST)

Stock with the following Factory options:

C02 – Equipped with Catalytic Converter (e.g., 50 State Legal Emissions)
158 - Blaupunkt "Monterey" Cassette Radio
220 - Limited Slip Differential
241 - Shorter Shifting Travel
341 - Central Locking System
454 - Automatic Speed Control
470 - Without Spoilers, in Conjunction with Turbo Look
491 - Turbo Look
650 - Sunroof

The Blaupunkt "Monterey" Cassette Radio was/is only "semi-functional" (hence, why it's missing in the pictures). I've left the radio "delete," so the next owner can install the radio of their choice. There are period-correct Alpine speakers installed in the factory front and rear locations.

Also, even though this M491 Coupe lists option 470 ("spoiler delete"), it has Genuine Porsche front and rear spoilers.

wow, what a nice 911.

Questions though: (1) shouldn't the decklid say "Carrera", not "Turbo"?, (2) where is the radio, (3) do you have the original shift ****?

Answers:

1. Even though the deck lid should have the "Carrera" emblem, the PO added the "turbo" emblem (I kinda like it, so I left it).

2. As stated in the text above the pictures, the radio was/is only semi-functional. Thus, I'm leaving the car radio "delete," so the new owner can install their preferred deck.

3. The M491 Coupe comes with the tan leather MOMO shift **** pictured (I do not have the original ****).

I have an 86 M491 coupe turned track car. That's 2 / 5 and I assure you mine currently looks nothing like this car. Having said that, although you have some documentation I have heard many different "opinions" on the actual number of cars that made it out of the factory.

Beauty, less the poser badge. Good luck with sale.

Real Beauty !!

I invite everyone to have a look at the M491 Turbo-Look Register ( www.turbo-look.com )

If you press REGISTER and select the Model and Modelyear you want to look for, you will find out that all the again and again told numbers of the M491 cars on the shown letter are wrong !

Turbo-Look Register lists 27 coupes from 1986 and if mck911 joines with his car as well - 28

Best

In build numbers? Everyone who wanted a widebody coupe bought a turbo when they were reintroduced to the US market for the '86 model year. Absent dealer markup there wasn't much of a price difference.

Nice options include LSD and short shifter.

$47 K in 1986 works out to $94 K in 2010...that M491 was one expensive option.

From one FTL owner to another: beautiful car and good luck with the sale.

Yep, it was stated by the OP this is one of 5 coupes for this year. The registry seems to show more, unless those include 930's. There are also a number of Targas and Cabs there too, which also are mentioned initially as low production numbers.

I think you will find that your price is a little high for the current market conditions. I have been watching the prices of turbo bodies since I bought mine last Sept. I have seen the range for cars in your condition going for $26k - $32k. You might call the guys at memory motorsports dot com. They have cycled 4 turbo bodies through their business in the past 6 months. All of them would equal the condition of your car. They can probably give you a good indication of the market. Mine is in the same condition as yours. If I could get $39k today I would sell it in a heart beat. Not trying to rain on your parade but just giving you some information. Car looks great.
