I've got a track car with just the "core ingredients" and it doesn't involve a massive speaker box behind the seats.
^^^^ The above comment is correct, if you wanted it "raw" why include all the weight of a huge speaker system? The sound of the engine should be enough.

Anyone remember the "356" that the 18 year old kid made from a 911? It used the alloy spare wheels and he actually sliced two of the cylinders off of the flat six. I searched and found a few obscure photos but no good info. I always thought it was the most tastefully done outlaw.

That's awesome RJT. It's a whole different universe out there in 356 land. Much of the 911 camp just doesn't have the exposure to those cars, which is ok, but there is a lot of fun to be had. It comes as a surprise to many 911 owners who have found that a quality 911 engine rebuild can cost 20K...so does a 356. It's all about fast, raw fun and a 356 (I prefer the A coupes) is just that.
the car I was referancing in relation to the original post is the centerpiece three photos below yours...I think. It's been a while since I've thought about that car but IIRC it was superbly executed by a youngster who actually severed two cylinders off of a 911 case to make a 4 lung...think of the cams, crank, intake etc. You can still see the 911 in its lines.

Has the Subforum Link changed since last night? I just went through it and can't find my car.... or yours??
Ours.... or should I say WAS ours This was taken during the Concours at the 2004 Fort Worth Parade. that's Robert back there with the big smile. We just won our class and division. he SHOULD be smiling, but that was the second I knew the car was going to be sold. A car that I was very attached to:
Day before the Concours. Doing the final clean up. We were in Full Concours. NUTS!
A few months later in Yorktown, VA. I HAD to protect it from the downpour. Didn't matter that there was lightning too. I loved my Max. Robert? he's sitting in the car LOL

Yes! We were there with our Red '65 C Coupe. We won an award and got to drive the car around the baseball diamond. I swear we were getting the red clay out of the nooks and crannies of the car for a year afterwards!
Here's a picture of me under Max. No wonder I LOVED that car. I knew his every nut and bolt.

Fun time in Chas. I was working at various concession stands that weekend and was at the awards dinner at the Riverdog's stadium(I volunteered as a member of the Porsche club). I got a ride in the 550. I have a ton of pictures from the concours at Middleton Plantation...see what I can find.
