Default '72 RSR fuel system - what is this?

I've got a '72 RSR clone with MFI, there's a quirk in the fuel system I don't understand. Where the fuel line comes off the tank, it tees off to a catch tank in the drivers side fenderwell but I don't know what the tank is for and I can't find a description of it in any of my books. Any ideas?

Thanks

In the world of vintage triumphs, that would have been evaporative loss / charcoal canister... I don't have much hands on time with 911's pre SC, so I can't be much help... just provide a swag. Could be something I've never heard of, no mfi cars for me... yet.

It should be a fuel return instead of catch tank unless that was devised for overflow /fumes..
The only tank in drivers fender (at least on street MFI) , I don't recall but can check my '72 RS clone

Thanks Budge - I don't know enough about the MFI, but the only line going to this tank comes from the main feed line. If you get a chance to look at your car, I'd really appreciate it.
