My mirrors are not adjusting. I hear sound when I move the joystick adjuster, but there is no movement of the mirrors. I suspect there is corrosion, dirt, a dead animal or a politician hiding in there. So, how do I open up the mirror assembly to get at the moving parts?

Car is a 1980 911SC.

If careful you can pry the mirror from the housing. Once the glass is free you have to unplug the two wires to it for the demister. There are 3 screws in there for you to take the drive out.
No need to remove from the door for a quick look at it.
