Default clutch and throttle issue

82 911 SC ROW

This one has confused many.

Randomly, once and a while (more often than not) when my clutch is engaged, the the engine will not fall below 3000 RPM.

The car is IN NEUTRAL, rev the engine: nothing.

The car is IN NEUTRAL, clutch engaged, rev the engine: the RPMS will stick at 3000. Slowly (5-10 seconds) the idle will decrease to about 1200 RPM. If i release the clutch, the RPM falls to the correct idle instantly. It only happens when the clutch is engaged.

HELP!

On a side note, sometimes the car will die when i engage the clutch at high rpm from lack of better vacuum. Currently looking for cause but one thing at a time i suppose.

Are your clutch and throttle cables entangled in the center tunnel?
