Default Fuel Flap Conversion?

Anyone tried repacing the cable pull for the fuel flap with a press 'n'release type set-up? thanks

Of all the things that you would do. Why this? My collective cars of this era have accumulated about a quarter of a million miles and I don't think their factory configuration of the release has ever needed to be repaired.
