Default Exhaust header temperature

Does anyone know the expected range of temperature in the exhaust headers? My (new) engine is a 3.0, bored out to 3.2 with PMO carb's and hot street/race cams (120/104 Web Cam); 9.5 compression, MSD ignition. I've installed an Innovate AFR gauge and want to ensure the sensors are properly installed with the correct bungs. Thanks.

Peter,

EGT's depend on fuel mixture, ignition timing, and load.

Where did you position your wide-band sensors?

Steve - I have pre-1975 headers (SSI) and have one bung already installed for previous testing. It's roughly 7-8" from the outlet, above the horizontal plane. Innovate recommends using their extended bungs and/or heat sinks if exhaust temperatures are expected to exceed 500 C / 900 F regularly. This is what I'm trying to gauge. Should we install the deep bungs or not, is the question.
