Default Good shop for PPI in Atlanta

I have a 1983 SC Cabriolet coming down to me here to "test drive" for a month. I want to have the whole car completely gone over by a reputable shop here in Atlanta. Does anybody on the boards have a recommendation? I'd prefer to stay away from the dealerships, obviously. Thanks in advance, people.

Chris

The only shop I can speak of from personal experience is Franz Blam Racing in Tucker. They do everything from routine maintenance on street cars to race prep and support (Thomas Blam is chief engineer for the #45 Flying Lizard car). They know the old cars very well, and have kept up with the new ones as well. Great bunch of folks.

I had them lined up to do a PPI for me on a car I looked a over there couple of years ago but the owner of the car wouldn't let it off her property (SNORT). Still, they offered to come out to her house and do as much of a PPI as could be done in a driveway if I waned - I was so impressed with their desire to really help me out that I was happy to patronize them when I needed a few routine things done on the car I eventually got in TX.

There are other shops in the Atlanta area - maybe some others will chime in.

Enjoy your month of test-driving! Hey NASA-SE is running an HPDE weekend at Road Atlanta next weekend.... :-)

I agree, I feel that Franz Blam Racing is the best in Atlanta and one of the best independant shops in the country. You can't go wrong, and taking the SC there for a PPI.

Mr. Blam and Dieter will give you a honest & professional opinion if the SC is worth the purchase.

Thank you all for your support. Mercury, we would be happy to inspect the SC in question, or any other Porsche that you find yourself interested in. Please let us know how we can help via e-mail or calling the shop at 770-939-6100.

Awesome!! Thanks for the referral people. It looks like a great car on the surface but one never knows. I'll call you to arrange something when it is here. I may be flying up to DE and driving it back, or transporting it, I'm not sure yet. Thanks again.............Chris

I have received exceptional service from Ryland's just off of Cobb parkway next to the VW dealer. He is presently doing a rebuild on my friend's RS America Ruff turbo. Ryland's number is 770-952-9305.

My 911 has also been in the shop for 6 months and there was nothing wrong with it! They are installing the turbo.

Hey Chris, how've you been? I'd love to see how your car runs with the turbo. Does your brother still live in Atlanta? Mine went in for glass and seal replacement, and it has sort of morphed from there. I'll never buy another 911 that's been parked for years. Everything that moves has a lot of trouble moving freely.

Hi Steve,

My brother still lives in Atlanta on weekends and works in LA (Lower Alabama, ha!) weekdays. His C4 Cab is getting flat spots on its tires as we speak.

You avatar picture must have inspired me since I just realized I've purchased the same wing depicted! If I ever get a dent or a rust spot I'll seriously consider the wider fenders, but probably not the slant nose.
