Well...technically your starter has an internal relay, but you can test your starter with a little test light on the solenoid. The yellow wire should be powered when the key is turned to "start". If it's not, then you can start checking upstream. If there is power and the starter is not doing anything, then chances are you have a bad starter solenoid. There should be constant power from the battery at the large cable, so be careful. Disconnect the battery before removing your starter.

You can also check it with a remote starter switch or a multimeter.

Forgot I even had the 101 projects book and on pg 207 it tells me what to look for....
