Maybe a silly rookie question, but I have no idea. What is the point of the half round rubber o-ring area above the rocker panel just forward of the rear wheel?

It allows you to remove the rear torsion bar from the car.

So you have to remove the rocker molding to get access?

By Rocker Molding, they mean the little round circle comes off the rocker. Not that the whole rocker molding is removed.

Often the rocker moulding has to be removed because it covers half the opening.

Rocker moulding comes off, then remove the round cover. The rubber is to keep the round cover from rattling and scratching the outer surface of the hole and looks nicer.
