Relax Gentleman, I see this as a calling and may be a good time for all of us to sell!!!
Anyone looking for an 87 Cab, GP white/Black interior with only 47,000 miles? Only asking $40,000 U.S.
"please no tire kickers or low ball offers" Should feel lucky to get it at this price., PM me..
Are you guys sure the price in that add isn't reflecting some other foreign currency? Crazy!

And then there's this one: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/ctd/1622133325.html. Or the other local one, a Gulf Blue that's been for sale for months @ $60K.

I can see the 74 carrera...well sort of getting bigish money. It's got to be a pretty color/paint to sample, or something unique to get into the stratosphereic $$. Drive this car for 20K miles, or until it starts to puke it's fluids and it's a 25K car. Very few dealers understand air cooled cars.

So true... & why should they - their rates are so high that not many owners of cars out of warranty (or WAY out of warranty) use their service depts - unless they have no alternative. If Fred Baker is still with us & still the dlr principal, he SHOULD know air-cooled cars - I watched him race a Carrera 6 (906) back in '67... at a SCCA National. He bought a factory team car right after Sebring that season. Needless to say, even w/ the tiny motor, it was the class of the field.

I know everyone feels this is quite high for a 1985 911 with 12k miles, but it is a very nice example and if you want the best of the best sometimes you pay up. I bet that this car sells for 50-55k. I have seen it where I work...the trouble is..everyone thinks they know "everyone" would not pay this type of money, but truth be told..not everyone is a "rennlister" and reads the magazines etc. If you have the means...and want a perfectly preserved 911 from the mid 80's you will pay up for it...case in point is all the musle cars at Barrett Jackson!

I tend to agree ricster. There is always someone with more money than brains, and capable of making an impulse buy at that price. It is unique in condition and milage and there are not many out there in this condition, so somebody will have to have it. My local VW dealer had a 79 Bug with 9000 miles on the showroom floor and was asking something like 20K for it. I didn't frown on that like I do this car for some reason...so.

I could understand the beetle at $20k. Beetles were more working class everyday drivers so finding one with that few miles is a monumental task. In my opinion.

I think you probably right murphyjp. In the sports/exotic world a savvy seller will never lower his price-in fact the stratagy is to raise it until it sells. That can turn against you though and I think thats where this car is. It's just to high to be realistic and who's going to knock 20K off the price - whats that say to the buyer. Somebody just pulled an arbitrary number out of their *** on this car with the hope that they will hit a homerun. Typical dealer, but we shall see.
